Stackable Application of eWAVE4107DiR

1.1         General Description

The eWAVE4107DIR is a 1 U Mini-chassis type Multi-service platform which has a flexible configuration; it has four slots for Hot-Swappable Line cards (front), two slots for EDFA Line cards (front), one slot for WDM card (front). Except OSC channel, every eWAVE4107DiR chassis can support maximum 8 channels now. In order to support application beyond 8 channels on one node, eWAVE4107DiR can stack at least 4 mini-chassis, which means it can support at least 32 channels.

1.2          Structure of 160Gb/s DWDM Terminal node

Implementation of stacking is concern of network management port stacking and optical wavelength stacking. eWAVE4107DiR has two 10M/100M management ports used for network management stack. Connecting UP port to DOWN port of each stacking mini-chassis makes software manage every mini-chassis easily. Optical wavelength stacking is implemented by customer specified WDM card. There is a expand port in WDM card for stack application. We always divided all wavelengths into several sub-bands. Every mini-chassis supports one sub-band. In 160Gb/s DWDM system, four mini-chassis can be stacked to support 100GHz grids, 16 channels transmission. Each MUX/DEMUX card can add and drop four wavelengths to line card through backplane, and with a expand port to bypass other wavelengths. Every add/drop wavelength in 160G DWDM system is pre-defined in Table 1.
